Summer Retreat | 18th-23rd August 2015

Introduction

Knowledge is said to be taken from the hearts of scholars, not the pages of books and this is the core of Traditional Halaqa, a course which, since 2002, has been bringing Muslims in the west into contact with scholars who are the living vessels of wisdom.

We aim to provide access to obligatory sacred knowledge and an introduction to additional religious sciences to english speaking Muslims who have limited access to teachers. This will be provided by teachers from the orthodox way of Islam.

Our aims:

      • Inspire love for Allah, His Messenger (peace be upon him) and the Religion.
      • Motivate students to live according to the Sunnah.
      • Equip students with knowledge of the central elements of the Religion.
      • Inspire students to take up further studies with authentic traditional Scholars.

Venue

Grittleton House
Grittleton, Chippenham, Wiltshire, SN14 6AP

Grittleton is a picturesque village situated on the edge of the Cotswolds and surrounded by glorious English countryside. Grittleton was owned by the Neeld family, although most of the houses today are privately owned they still maintain their original charm. As you walk along the short High Street look out for ‘The Old Laundry’, ‘The Reading Rooms’ , ‘The Old Stores’, The Old School and The Forge to name a few. Grittleton is perfectly located with easy access from the M4 and M5 motorways. For those that require a more leisurely journey there is plenty to see as you wind your way through the lanes. Grittleton Stables are situated within the grounds of a large Victorian Manor House. The stables are set away from the main house and have a unique and tranquil charm that we hope will instil a wonderful feeling of relaxation, interest and history. The beauty of this setting makes it ideal for friends and families to get together for those special occasions and reunions.Thirty acres of manicured arboretum, parkland and formal gardens. Courtyard for BBQs and alfresco dining. Tennis Courts, Netball courts, Football pitch and other outdoor sporting facilities, all available with prior arrangement (seasonal).
