Tajweed is a Arabic word meaning correct pronunciation during recitation. It is a set of rules, which dictate how the Qur'an should be read. It comes from the root word 'ja-wa-da' meaning to make well, make better or improve.

Essentials of Worship

The Names of Allah
Come to know your lord through His Names. The Holy Quran is filled with various Names of Allah (most high), each one of these Names teaches us about the Majesty and Mercy of our Lord. It is part of our Love for Allah (most high) to want to learn everything we can about Him, and learning His Names and their meanings is an expression of such love.

Tafseer (Exegesis)

Fiqh of Halal & Haram
This course will cover important rulings relating to everyday activities of the Muslim. Course subjects include: Halal and Haram animals, Islamic method of slaughter, oaths and vows, rulings relating to clothing and jewellery, gender interaction, work and employment, and much more.

Shafi'i Fiqh
It is obligatory on every Muslim to study the fundamentals of this beautiful religion, this course will provide an opportunity for students to fulfill a part of this obligation. Students will learn essential details regarding the laws of purity (Taharah) and prayer (Salah). We encounter issues related to Wudu, Ghusl and Salah every day and it is important for us to understand what the correct ruling is, rather than relying on hearsay.

Marriage Etiquette
A study of the Quranic verses and Hadith related to the ettiquete required of the husband and wife in the context of marriage. Students will work through Imam Ghazali's highly regarded book.

Spirituality - Hikam of Ibn Ata'illah
Based on Ibn Ata Illah's celebrated work, this course will present the fundamentals of Islamic Spirituality based on the Holy Quran and Prophetic Sunnah. Working through the aphorisms, students will learn how to practically apply Quranic teachings in a manner that facilitates spiritual development.

Every evening:
Open Q&A sessions; giving you the opportunity to ask any questions.

Please note: Essentials of Worship & Fiqh of Halal and Haram, Marriage Etiquette & Shafi Fiqh (see itinerary) will run concurrently, you are required to choose one when registering.
